AHD Barn Owl Box Camera System

This high quality Barn Owl Box is constructed from exterior grade bonded plywood which has been treated with two coats of water based preservative. Designed to last for many years with minimal maintenance, we use only stainless steel screws, brass inspection door bolts and hinges. Whilst being strong and durable, the 'A' frame barn owl box is specifically designed so that it can be installed about 12 feet from the ground onto the face of a tree trunk, wall or existing pole by one or two persons, without the need for haul ropes or lifting equipment. 
The large inspection door is specially designed to aid cleaning and also permits the safe and secure monitoring of breeding barn owls by licensed conservationists. Once in position the floor of the owl nesting box should be lined with about 2" (5cm) of small wood chippings or similar.
Once a Barn Owl has chosen its first nest site it is likely to use it again year after year, generation after generation.
About 2000 pairs of Barn Owls currently breed in this particular type of owl box, with an estimated 100,000 owlets having fledged during the last 20 years. This has contributed significantly to the conservation successes now being seen with Barn Owls in the UK.  Owl boxes now account for three-quarters of the nest sites used by Barn Owls with 'A' frame type owl nesting boxes known to produce the highest fledging successes recorded in the UK.
 
The Mini AHD Camera
The mini AHD camera is packed with technology which has been adapted specifically for use with our camera bird boxes and feeder camera kits. This truly outstanding HD Owl box camera uses an intelligent Light Sensor to cleverly adjust the image quality to suit its environment producing a full colour HD 1080p resolution image right down to very low light levels. Not only this, the light sensor also serves to adjust the x10 infrared night vision LEDs to a graduating on/off, gently supplementing loss or gain of natural light levels with an invisible IR. The result of this outstanding technology is that we can now produce high definition colour images by day and crisp black and white images during darkness. This mini AHD owl box camera also incorporates a highly sensitive microphone so you can hear as well as see what's going on. The camera has a 3MP / 4.0 mm lens which produces an 87 degree viewing angle, the perfect setup for viewing right up close into the nest. The lens will have already been pre-focused to the correct position for you, but it can very easily be adjusted to suit alternative applications.
 
How does it all work?
A professional x3 core weatherproof cable (Audio/Video/12v DC) is already connected to the camera in the roof of the nest box, the other end of the cable needs to be routed into your property. The cable plugs are black, yellow and white. The black is for mains power and connects to the (included) 240/12v regulated DC mains power plug for connection to an available plug by your TV. The remaining RCA yellow (video) and white (audio) connectors fit into their corresponding colour coded inputs on the AHD-HDMI Converter (included). Connect the Converter to your TV using an HDMI cable (not included). Switch on at the mains plug, then select the appropriate HDMI channel on your TV, sit back and wait for the show to start!
