DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral

DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral

A specialist drone for agricultural surveying and production management, DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral (Mavic 3M) combines RGB and multispectral cameras to analyse and scan agricultural terrain with clarity from an aerial perspective. Mavic 3M users can gather precise data insights which can aid agricultural decision-making.

While primarily for agricultural users, DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral also excels in other commercial applications such as vegetation analysis for land surveyors, vegetation encroachment and tracking of invasive species.

Part of the popular Mavic 3 Enterprise range of everyday commercial drones and a replacement for the legacy Phantom 4 Multispectral, the DJI Mavic 3M is a compact and portable tool capable of delivering precise data to aid agricultural production management and decision-making.

  • Compact and portable – folds into a compact form factor, quick and easy to deploy and comes with a robust carrying case.
  • Multispectral camera – 4 x 5MP multispectral cameras (G, R, RE, NIR).
  • RGB camera – 20MP, 4/3 CMOS, mechanical shutter.
  • Safe and stable – transmission distance of up to 15km and equipped as standard with omnidirectional obstacle avoidance technology.
  • Precise positioning – RTK positioning delivers centimeter-level accuracy with microsecond-level time synchronisation.
  • Efficient aerial surveying – covers up to 200 hectares per single flight.

Integrated RGB and multispectral imaging system

The Mavic 3M’s imaging system seamlessly integrates one 20MP RGB camera with four 5MP multispectral cameras. The integration between camera technologies allows for highly precise agricultural surveying, crop growth management and surveying of natural resources.

5MP multispectral cameras:

  • Near-infrared (NIR): 860mm ± 26nm
  • Red edge (RE): 730nm ± 16nm
  • Red (R): 650nm ± 16nm
  • Green (G): 560nm ± 16nm

20MP RGB camera:

  • 4/3 CMOS 20MP image sensor
  • 1/2000s fastest mechanical shutter speed
  • 0.7s high-speed RGB camera burst

Sunlight sensor:

Mavic 3M has a built-in sunlight sensor which allows for light compensation when processing image data. By capturing solar irradiance and recording it in an image’s file, improved 2D reconstruction can be achieved, improving accuracy of NDVI results and producing more consistently accurate data over time.

Highly accurate image capture

Thanks to its RTK module, Mavic 3M drones record positioning data accurate to centimeter-level. The RTK module syncs in microsecond-accurate time to capture the precise location of an image, allowing Mavic 3M users to produce highly accurate surveys without needing to use ground control points.

Efficient and reliable flight and battery performance

Long battery life
Achieve 43 minutes of cruise time in one charge, enough to survey up to 200 hectares in a single flight.

Fast charging
Fast-charge the batteries using the 100W battery charging hub, or fast-charge the aircraft directly with 88W fast charging.

Stable signal and smooth image transmission
Mavic 3M can reliably and smoothly transmit and receive signal at a range of up to 15km.

Versatile, smart and safe flying
Mavic 3M is equipped with omnidirectional obstacle avoidance technology, ensuring that flight safety and reliability is maximised. It can also perform terrain-follow aerial surveying which is especially useful for steep-slope landscapes.

Orchard mapping

Even on sloped landscapes, Mavic 3M can perform terrain-follow aerial surveying of orchards and similar sites. Highly accurate, high-resolution 3D digital reconstructions can be produced in DJI Terra or DJI SmartFarm, allowing surveyors to identify key metrics like number of trees or other structures. You can also generate 3D routes for your agricultural drone operations, boosting flight safety and efficiency.

Guide variable rate applications

Multispectral images of crops can be extremely useful for applications like rice fertilisation, potato fertiliser spraying and cotton growth monitoring – this can be easily and efficiently achieved using Mavic 3M and either DJI Terra or DJI SmartFarm. Deploying a drone to capture accurate, relevant data such as crop growth rate can significantly aid decision-making and is a cost-effective, time-efficient way of monitoring your land to identify cost savings, boost yield and identify opportunities to protect the environment.

Intelligent field scouting

Intelligent field scouting, the process of analysing land using smart technology to identify abnormalities and agricultural opportunities, can be achieved with Mavic 3M using DJI SmartFarm. Applications include identifying weed pressure, emergence deficiencies, rice production testing and cotton seedling identification, allowing just one person to easily manage up to 70 hectares of farmland independently.

Environmental monitoring and surveying

Mavic 3M is the ideal solution for cost-effective and highly accurate environmental monitoring and natural resource surveying. Applications like water enrichment monitoring, forest distribution surveying and urban green area surveying can be achieved quickly and efficiently, delivering vital information to conservation teams to aid decision-making.
