The black finish helps the temperature inside to warm up quickly when the box is placed in a shady, cooler place. This bat box is also available in the colour white.
White boxes heat up less quickly inside than black boxes when installed in warm, sunny places. There are several species of bats that may inhabit this box, depending on which species can be found in the area and where the box is hung. This box is suitable for summer roosting, and may also serve as shelter during mild winters. The box is made of 100% WoodStone® and comes with dowels and screws for mounting. WoodStone® is a mix of 100% FSC®-certified wood fibres and concrete. This robust material is environmentally sustainable and will last for decades. Suitable for roosting and shelter during the summer months for:

Placement
- Place the bat box in a suitable location on the facade, using the dowels and screws provided.
- Place the box at a minimum height of 3 meters.
- The box can be hung on any side of the building.
- Keep the entry and exit routes to box clear and unimpeded.
- Do not place boxes above windows or doors.
- Artificial light is disturbing to most bat species. Do not illuminate the box – or the flight path – or place the box near artificial light sources.
- It is preferable to hang multiple boxes throughout an area. In doing so, vary the height of the boxes and the direction they are facing.
Maintenance
Bat boxes can be cleaned once a year in winter, preferably during a frost period. Be sure to check that the boxes are not occupied first! A special long-handled brush can be used to remove cobwebs and other debris from the box.

The advantages of woodstone
Most of our products are made from woodstone: a proprietary material that mixes (FSC®-)wood fibres with concrete, colloquealy known as cement-bonded wood fibre or wood concrete.
