About Vivara Pro
We are experts in nature-inclusive construction — but what does it mean?
Nature-inclusive building integrates biodiversity into construction. It improves the living environment for people and wildlife; enabling a future where people and nature can live together in harmony.
In essence, this is done by adding measures such as nestboxes, green roofs or built-in bricks into urban environments, allowing wildlife to thrive. This is where we excel.
The advantages of nature-inclusive construction
According to various studies from prestigious institutes such as Stanford University and Wageningen University & Research, balancing nature with urban development allows for a myriad of positive effects to take place, such as:
-
Increased biodiversity in the area
-
Improved air quality in the area
-
Reduced levels of stress, anxiety, and depression for residents
-
A direct connection with nature
-
Improved overall wellbeing
-
Reduced urban heat island (UHI) effects
-
And much more
The advantages of woodstone
Most of our products are made from woodstone: a proprietary material that mixes (FSC®-)wood fibres with concrete, colloquealy known as cement-bonded wood fibre or wood concrete.
Woodstone has natural insulating properties and the material is also breathable. This can lead to better breeding outcomes for the species inhabiting the box or brick. It also has many other advantages, such as:
-
Durable and sustainable
-
Woodstone is much lighter than cement or regular concrete
-
Woodstone can absorb water and has natural insulating properties
-
Being much stronger than wood, it also does not rot
-
Highly fire-resistant
What is FSC®-certified wood?
Vivara Pro exclusively works with FSC®-certified wood. FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an international, non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide.
FSC®-certified wood is felled from forests that are managed with respect for people, wildlife, and the environment. The certification guarantees that the wood is felled sustainably, with strict standards that protect biodiversity, ensure fair working conditions, and maintain the long-term health of forest ecosystems.
Every step of the supply chain is checked and verified. This process is called chain of custody certification, ensuring that FSC®-labelled products truly originate from responsibly managed sources.
In summary, by using FSC®-certified wood we ensure that ecosystems can thrive and regrow. It also guarantees fair wages and working conditions. These are values that have, and always will have our unequivocal support.
