Long-eared Owl & Hobby Nesting Basket 90815 (VP)
Description
This attractive woven willow basket is similar to the abandoned nests that Long-eared Owl and Hobby normally use.
Siting
Place the basket close to the trunk on a V-shaped branch of a tree, at a height of at least 4 metres. The best location to set up the nest is on the edge of a forest, in a park or a large garden. You can secure the basket using pull straps (not supplied). Make sure that the owls have a free flight path. Fill the basket up to half with nesting material, this can be forest soil or dry leaves.
Maintenance
Inspect the basket once a year to check how secure the basket is and check the basket quality, the best time to do this is in the autumn from September onwards. If necessary, add nesting material such as soil and dry leaves.
