For anything on a wildlife theme: Ask Martin!

Hi there,
What can I say about the Pettersson M500?
For a hand-held microphone to connect to a Windows tablet with a real-time sonogram display, M500 is the obvious choice. For connection to Android or iOS systems, Pettersson M500-384 and u256/u384, and Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter Touch 2 are good options.
M500 connects via cable to a Windows tablet and M500-384 likewise to a wide range of devices including Linux. Echo Meter Touch 2 fits snugly onto a phone or tablet. Pettersson u256 & u384 are similar to Echo Meter Touch 2 without the 'bells & whistles'.
I want you to be 100% happy, so call me on 0333 9000 927 for advice.
Warm Regards,
Martin.
Warranty: 1 year (2 years from me)
High-quality full spectrum recordings at a price never seen before!
The M500 microphone is easily used with a tablet PC or laptop to record bat calls and other ultrasonic signals with the highest quality.
The M500 USB Ultrasound Microphone comes in a small and durable aluminium enclosure. It utilizes the same advanced electret microphone technology as the well-known D500X detector and can be used both in directional and omnidirectional modes (with or without the directional horn).
Low-noise technology, high sampling frequency and efficient anti-aliasing filter provide highest quality recordings.
The microphone comes with a free 'Lite' version of the easy-to-use BatSound Touch recording program that saves the recordings as 16 bit wav files. Real-time display of the waveform and the spectrogram as well as real-time monitoring of the bat calls are also available. The program offers various triggering modes; manual and automatic, with or without pre-trigger, level triggered or frequency triggered operation.
Most contemporary Windows tablets/laptops will work (Windows 7 and up). Windows RT is not supported! We use tablets with a simple Intel Atom processor (1.33 GHz) and 1-2 GB RAM with good results. Of course, faster/larger RAM is always better, but the above mentioned will do.
Please note that the USB port must be a USB2 high speed port (most tablets/laptops have that) and in the case of a tablet, if it is a micro USB port, it must be an OTG type.
Comment from a user: The M500 will geotag your recordings. In addition to that, when using the M500 with GPS positioning there are some very important key differences in functionality between running a tablet with internal GPS positioning which interfaces with the windows location service and using an external Bluetooth or USB GPS device.

Comment from a client:
"My bat detector microphone failed during a dawn survey and knew that I had a group of dusk surveys starting in two days time. I was not in a good place as I did not have a spare, but my equipment was less than a year old.
After my survey I contacted Martin by email and he called me back on the same day, a few hours later, after a quick nap. He told me he did not have a part in stock, but had already contacted the supplier on my behalf.
The next day I received a replacement part, free of charge and express delivered from Switzerland. I thought it was amazing, and could not believe it was resolved so quickly.
Due to Martin's exceptional service I was good to go with the surveys, and I really would like to thank Martin and Wildlife Countryside Services for making the dusk surveys happen."
