What can I say about the Elekon Batlogger A2?
If you're looking for a static full spectrum recorder to leave out on site, the Elekon Batlogger A2, the Titley Ranger, the Pettersson D500X and the Wildlife Acoustics SM4BAT and Mini Bat 2 are the ones to consider.
All units record bat calls very efficiently, but the main consideration is going to be deployment times. The Batlogger A2 can last for 33 nights. The D500X can last for 14 nights. The SM4BAT FS, and Ranger can last for 30+ nights. The Mini Bat 2 can last for 50 (AA model) or 125 (li-ion) nights.
My preference is the SM4BAT FS, Mini Bat 2 or Titley Ranger with their unprecedented deployment times and ease of use, though the Batlogger A2's status update feature is pretty cool.

New cable microphone ultra
The BATLOGGER A2 comes with the new cable microphone ultra. It has an integrated microphone test, temperature and humidity sensor. This new microphone has a 5m long cable and can be extended with the microphone extension cables (20m, 50m and 100m).
Due to these new possibilites, the old FG black microphones and cables are not compatible with the BATLOGGER A2.

"My bat detector microphone failed during a dawn survey and knew that I had a group of dusk surveys starting in two days time. I was not in a good place as I did not have a spare, but my equipment was less than a year old.
